(It’s alright! I love you so much, thank you!! <3 This was really fun to write – I love Star Trek, so I put a lot of Trekkie references into this one ;) Thank you so much for the prompt – I hope you like it!!)
…
221B: the Final Frontier. These are the adventures of the detective Sherlock Holmes and his blogger, John Watson. His 36-year mission: to solve weird crimes, to annoy Scotland Yard, and to boldly go where no man has gone before (John’s bedroom)…
With the above narrative running through Sherlock’s head, he and John sat on the sofa, watching the first Star Trek movie (the one with Zachary Quinto, the girl from Avatar and the rather handsome son of Thor). Sherlock was sat in his chair comfortably, and John had his back to Sherlock’s chest, both of their legs stretched out and entwined, their feet resting on the table in front of them.
Sherlock threw a popcorn kernel into his mouth. “So the man in the blue shirt is McCoy?”
“Yep.” John nodded.
“And all the people in red shirts are expendable?”
“All except that woman with the black hair. Her name’s Uhura.”
“I see… and that blond man is now the Captain?”
“No, this is the Kobayashi Maru. It’s a test, to see if Kirk can truly be Captain.”
Sherlock frowned. “But in the trailer he was flying the ship, so he must pass the test.”
“Yes, he does, but he cheats.” John frowned. “They should really put spoiler alerts on these trailers.”
Sherlock nodded in agreement. He fell silent for the next half an hour, watching John’s reactions more than the actual movie. Every time something funny happened, John’s nose would wrinkled and his hairline would lift with his eyebrows; every time something exploded, John would wince and flex his left hand, as if reminding himself of the war. Sherlock took the hand the second time it happened, and he felt John’s muscles relax against his chest. Three-quarters of the way in, Spock flashed on-screen, and Sherlock’s ears pricked up when he heard: “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
“You put that on your blog.” Sherlock murmured.
“What?”
“The thing Spock just said. The impossible-improbable thing.”
“Oh!” John grinned. “No, that was you. You said that the other day, at Baskerville.”
“Did I?” Sherlock frowned.
“Yes. You said that to me after we got out of the graveyard, remember?”
“No.”
John swivelled round to lean against the arm of the sofa, putting his legs across Sherlock’s lap. Sherlock’s chest felt cold without John there to lean on him.
“I don’t remember.” Sherlock shrugged.
John laughed – Sherlock narrowed his eyes at him. He lunged at John, rolling on top of him and tickling him mercilessly. The blond hissed, tears of laughter appearing in his eyes.
“Don’t mock me, hedgehog.” Sherlock purred, still tickling John’s neck and armpits.
“Dammit Sherlock! I’m a doctor, not a hedgehog!” John yelped, breathless with laughter
Sherlock kept on tickling, grinning until his cheeks hurt. John pushed him away, only to grab onto Sherlock’s collar and pull him down for a quick kiss.
“Love you, Spock.”
“If I’m Spock, who are you?”
John considered that. “I’m not Uhura, if that’s what you’re thinking.” John grinned. “I’m Kirk.”
“Of course you are.” Sherlock grinned. He kissed his Captain again.
